Valentine's Day may be over, but we'll be back. After all, Valentine's Day is a wonderful opportunity to boost marketing and drive revenue. We've spent some time in the depths of the internet looking for what all can be built into a campaign, or in some cases even an anti-campaign. And even if you don't celebrate Valentine's Day, or even hate it, we hope you'll enjoy it with us for a few days afterwards. So go ahead, make some coffee, pull out your Valentine's Day candy and visit our Bystro.

The gift of hate

Valentine's Day may be over, but we'll be back. After all, Valentine's Day is a wonderful opportunity to boost marketing and drive revenue. With all my heart

The Valentine's Day anti-campaign of the Kaufland chain in 2018 caused a big controversy. The advertisement shows a pork heart at a discount price. The symbol of love in the cheesiest version was given eyes and a mouth, because who doesn't like guts with a face? The ad reportedly targeted young shoppers who welcome funny and unusual ads. But the truth is that Kaufland doesn't have many such customers, and so a big wave of contradictory reactions was triggered. One side was delighted by the originality and black humour, the other was rather disgusted. And then there are the vegetarians. Which group do you fall into?

Jewellery is a security

If anyone's Valentine's Day campaign really makes sense, it's the sellers of flowers, chocolates and, of course, jewellery. It doesn't have to be hard to do this kind of advertising, just have a nice product, throw in some hearts and sweet talk. Done. In fact, if a guy is "forced" to celebrate Valentine's Day, he usually doesn't spend much time on it and buys whatever strikes his fancy. What stuck not only to men, but to women and feminists in particular, was Natan's Valentine's Day ad. But what if you bring a piece of jewellery to a woman and the promised reaction doesn't come? Is that actionable for false advertising?

Reward for a successful Valentine's Day

A couple of years ago, Australian Ikea came up with a very original and funny Valentine's Day campaign. On Valentine's Day, they gave away vouchers for a crib. Ikea gave a free crib on this coupon to parents whose baby was born exactly nine months after Valentine's Day, on November 14. Of course, like any gift voucher, this one included the information that it was only one crib per family and shipping was not included in the promotion.

A happy ending like a proper romantic comedy

To make sure we're not just here for the Valentine's Day Grinch, we've decided to add one successful commercial at the end. There are too many overly sweet, romantic ads that move the world on the internet, so it's hard to come up with something original. An ad that makes you think, that makes you like it, but also makes you laugh. That's the criteria we think the French Telecom ad from 2021 meets. Ultra-short chargers for every home!
