It's a beautiful autumn, the nature is colourful, cafes have over-sweetened lattes included in the price of lunch, and we'd like to spend our evenings snuggled under a blanket with our favourite movie or book. With all the fairy tales, the days are getting shorter, it's getting permanently dark, it's getting colder, the summer fruit has disappeared from the shelves and the mandarins are not yet in satisfactory shape. You have no time for a couch, a book or a movie, because autumn is the busiest time of year in many fields. It's a time when it's common to make mistakes, but don't worry, you're not alone, our newsletter will convince you of that.

"A good logo is the first step to good marketing."

The logo should be original, capturing the essence of the company, while also containing hidden information that makes it memorable. It's terribly difficult to create something like this when there are lawsuits of robbery lurking at every turn or legions of critics who always find a meaning to their liking. But there are also logos that are completely out there. One doesn't even have to be a big digger and still notice that something (everything) is wrong. It was very hard to pick just one winning one, so we split it into two categories. From abroad, the title of most absurd logo goes to Arlington Pediatric Clinic. Yes, it really is a pediatric clinic logo, we won't comment more. We probably don't need to introduce the winner for the Czech Republic. The logo we regularly see on the shelves is no longer strange to us, but it has been entertaining abroad for several years. Have you ever thought about it?

Enchanted mail attachments

Forget to include an attachment in the mail? Send the wrong version of a file by mistake? There's probably not a person to whom this little mistake has never happened. But can we call it a small mistake when that mail goes to the printer and one wrongly selected file becomes the wrong posters in the entire Prague metro? We are talking about the posters of Komerční banka that appeared this year in Prague's public transport. Instead of the final text, the ad offered us instructions for the copywriter, in short, the person in charge of writing the texts. Some say that this is the intention, for us it is a clear mistake. But we would like to salute the person at KB who is the author of the instructions, because from the copywriter's point of view I have to admit that it is very clearly and pleasantly given.

Unusual advertising areas

It's not just billboards and posters anymore. Advertising formats are offered on transport environments, on windows, on doors, on houses, just a piece of flat undisturbed surface. Let there be a window or an exhaust in the middle of the surface, at least it will be more interesting. Or not...

A bold agency

Hiring a bold agency for your marketing can be a beneficial step. Even though current society is very critical, humor is still welcome. A bold and young agency can bring a new perspective and ads that stand out. But will they go in the right direction? An essay on the subject could be written by carmaker Ford, which launched a new variant of its Figo model in the Indian market in 2013. It was a hatchback, a modification that would provide a roomier boot. Damn, but how to translate that into an ad in an entertaining way? Let's get inspired by the news! India has just passed a law that introduces harsher penalties for rape and sexual assault. Italy's ex-prime minister Silvio Berlusconi is on trial for a sex scandal with a young dancer. There, we're done, the ad is out!

Ford apologized for the ad, arguing that the agency placed the ad on the site without Ford's approval. So where is the line between courage and self-destruction?

Aspects that we cannot control

You make a campaign with good intentions. You've got the copy, the editing, the graphics. The right billboard format. Everything is approved and checked by a hundred different people. The right file is sent, the right file is printed, the right placement is made without harm to the material or graphics. And through it all, you don't get a triumphant feeling when you go to see the result for yourself. Yes, that can happen too. There are simply some things that even the best agency or marketeer can't control.

To err is human, an incredible cliché that we all regularly reassure ourselves with. Whether in our professional or personal lives. That's why it's always good to have someone to have your back, a colleague or perhaps an agency.
